Maintenance of Marine Valve
Valve storage and maintenance
The purpose of storage and maintenance is to prevent the valve from being damaged or the quality from being degraded during storage. In fact, improper storage is one of the important reasons for valve damage.
Valves should be kept in good order. Small valves should be placed on shelves, and large valves can be arranged neatly on the floor of the warehouse. Do not pile up disorderly, and do not let the flange connection surface contact the ground. This is not only for beauty, but also to protect the valve from damage.
Due to improper storage and handling, the hand wheel is broken, the valve rod is crooked, and the fixed nut of the hand wheel and valve rod is loose and lost. These unnecessary losses should be avoided.
For valves that will not be used for a short time, asbestos packing should be taken out to avoid electrochemical corrosion and damage to the valve stem.
The valves that have just entered the warehouse should be checked. If there is rain or dirt during transportation, they should be wiped clean and then stored.
The inlet and outlet of the valve shall be sealed with wax paper or plastic sheet to prevent dirt from entering.
The machined surface of valves that can rust in the atmosphere shall be coated with antirust oil for protection.
Valves placed outdoors must be covered with rain proof and dust-proof materials such as linoleum or tarpaulin. The warehouse for storing valves should be kept clean and dry.
Use and maintenance of valves
The purpose of use and maintenance is to prolong the service life of the valve and ensure reliable opening and closing.
The thread of the valve rod often rubs with the valve rod nut, and it should be coated with a little yellow dry oil, molybdenum disulfide or graphite powder for lubrication.
For valves that do not often open and close, the hand wheel should also be turned regularly to add lubricant to the stem threads to prevent seizure.
For outdoor valves, the valve rod shall be protected from rain, snow, dust and rust.
If the valve is mechanically operated, add lubricating oil to the gearbox on time.
Always keep the valve clean.
Always check and maintain the integrity of other parts of the valve. If the fixed nut of the hand wheel falls off, it should be fully equipped and cannot be used properly, otherwise the four sides of the upper part of the valve stem will be grinded, and the reliability of cooperation will be gradually lost, and even it cannot be started.
Do not rely on the valve to support other weights, and do not stand on the valve.
The valve rod, especially the threaded part, should be wiped frequently, and the lubricant that has been soiled by dust should be replaced with a new one, because the dust contains hard debris, which is easy to wear the thread and valve rod surface, affecting the service life.
In general, if you want to maintain the valve well, you need to operate according to the above methods described by the valve manufacturer, not only do the corresponding cleaning work for the valve, but also maintain the lubrication of the valve and daily maintenance of the electric device of the valve, so that the life cycle of the valve can be extended and it can play more practical value.
